Objectives
1. To take appropriate steps to have the region centred on Gloucester, NSW, designated a Climate Change Research and Development Area.
2. To seek the support and co-operation of government, non-government agencies, research institutes and the private sector in furthering research and developing economic and social adaptations to the challenges of:
* climate changes
* fuel and energy costs and supply
* sustainable natural resource management
* waste management
* food production and distribution
* sustainable tourism
* the sustainable use of community resources
in relation to:
• economic wellbeing
• employment
• health
• life style & choices
• industry and commerce
• education and training
• recreation
• services
• appropriate land use
• retirement and age care
• knowledge acquisition and distribution
3. To establish a resource centre to assemble and disseminate information
and create opportunities for information exchange, education and training.
4. To engage individuals, business and local organisations in developing an integrated community approach to the preservation of the economic and lifestyle attributes of the region.
5 To create a sustainable model for adoption by other communities throughout Australia
